The Gozo Business Chamber considers the budget as a positive one considering the current financial situation of the country and welcomes the substantial increase in the total allocation of funds for Gozo.
In a statement the chamber said it approves the relocation of jobs from Malta to Gozo but it expected the Budget to provide special incentives to entrepreneurs creating productive jobs in Gozo.
The waiving of 25 per cent of the licence fee for accommodation and catering establishments is to be commended. However, the chamber feels that it should have been extended to other business concerns.
The chamber said it had been asking for berthing facilities for cruise liners in Gozo and it is heartening to note that the Government has included this in the Budget. The chamber expects these facilities to be operational before the coming summer.
