Malteser Association donates van
Mr Joe Galea representative for the Maltese Cross Corps in Malta along with the Bavarian Malteser Association made the necessary arrangements to bring the donated van over to Gozo.
Special thanks were extended to the President Baron Johannes von Heereman and also to the Director of the Malteser in Bavaria Mr Thomas Kleinert.
Maltese Charities Association donates €13,000
The Maltese Charities Association donated €13,000 to the Foundation to be utilized in the purchasing of ICT equipment for the clients as well as the refurbishment of the clients residential areas.
Rotary Club donate over €1000
The Rotary Club of Gozo and Alnwick UK along with the support from The Rotary Foundation donated over €1,000 for the purchase of a special bed for the clients of Dar Arka.
Hard cash is needed to keep this centre running efficiently. In fact about Lm100,000 is spent annually, the bulk of which is taken up by wages.
Fund-raising activities are continually organized. To help the centre along in this uphill struggle, a large number of volunteers give freely of their time and abilities. Also, the Director, Mgr Manuel Curmi, goes as far afield as Australia and Canada in his quest to collect much-needed funds.
A membership scheme has been launched in which a yearly donation, however small, is voluntarily paid. To date, over 400 persons have joined the scheme.
