The Victoria Clarinet Quartet in concert

Woodwinds-for-Summertime.jpgThe University Gozo Centre will be organizing its annual summer activity, entitled ‘Woodwinds for Summertime’ with The Victoria Clarinet Quartet on Saturday the 31st of August.

The Victoria Clarinet Quartet was established in January 2004 and the four founding members are Mario Galea (1st Clarinet), Marvin Grech (2nd Clarinet), Joseph Debrincat (3rd Clarinet), and George Larry Zammit (Bass Clarinet and 4th Clarinet). All the performers reside in Victoria, Gozo.


During the evening the ensemble will perform music by Gershwin (Summertime); Rossini (William Tell); Monti (Czardas); Lennon & McCarthney (Yesterday); Mancini (The Pink Panther), Pace (L-Imnarja), Elgar (Pomp and Circumstance), Y.M.C.A., Sinatra (My Way) among others.

The concert will also include video features related to the musical pieces being performed. The well acclaimed soprano Georgina Gauci will also join the quartet to perform classical and pop music.

The general public is invited to attend and those present will be provided with a highly entertaining evening.

The event will take place at the Central Courtyard of the University Gozo Centre and will commence at 2000hrs. The entrance is free. The number of places is limited and seats will be reserved on a first-come first-served basis.
