The Ornis Committee has again refrained from making a recommendation regarding this years spring hunting.
The Committee said that in view of the fact that the European Court had not decided yet whether to order interim measures on the forthcoming spring hunting season, the committee resolved that it should not make a recommendation which may prejudice Malta’s case, especially given Malta’s stand over the legitimacy of a derogation applied by Malta over the past few years.
The Committee is to seek legal advice from the Attorney General with regard to the actual procedures that are now due to take place, in order to ensure that any decision that is made by the Committee will not interfere with Malta’s line of defence in both the long-term court case and also with Malta’s pending appeal regarding the interim measures request.
