Gozo Bishop visits Media Centre and Radio RTK

diocese.jpgThe Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech, recently visited the Church’s Media Centre and Radio RTK and met with employees, he encouraged them to continue in their mission to pass on the good news and the message of Christ to society.

Bishop Grech, who was welcomed by chairman Victor Formosa, board members and general manager Michael Francalanza, took the opportunity to talk individually with employees about their work in the printing press, publications, bookshops, the TV Unit and the various sections that make up Radio RTK.

He also viewed work in progress on the printing of a booklet that has been produced by the Commission for the Liturgy in connection with the canonisation of Dun Gorg Preca.

In a short speech at the end of his tour, Bishop Grech expressed his appreciation to all the staff. He said that both the Media Centre and Radio RTK were considered to be the flagship of the Church in Malta. By means of printed and broadcast media, Bishop Grech added, Christ’s message was being passed on to Maltese society as well as to Maltese migrants abroad.

He referred to the World Day for Social Communications and Pope Benedict’s message that focuses on children: The use of the media for their education as well as the influence the media has on them. Bishop Grech concluded by appealing to the journalists to ensure that the media was of service to people, particularly children.
