Bank of Valletta is supporting the production of the opera ‘Macbeth’ being held as part of the 6th Edition of the Mediterranea Festival organized by Societa Filarmonica La Stella. The opera, being staged at the Teatru Astra in Victoria on the 25th and 27th of October, will feature world renowned Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja as MacDuff.
The Bank’s sponsorship was presented by Michael Galea, Head at the CEO’s Office at Bank of Valletta to Dr Joseph Grech, President of the Societa Filarmonica La Stella. “The Bank of Valletta is a strong supporter of artistic and cultural events organized in Gozo. We are delighted to be one of the main partners for this production of Macbeth that will be marking the 10th Anniversary of when it was first produced at the Astra Theatre as well as the debut of Joseph Calleja,” said Mr. Galea.
“Gozo and the Opera have a very strong association and the Mediterranea Festival has been attracting a very strong international following year after year” said Dr Joseph Grech said “This year’s production features a very strong and experienced cast which we are sure will delight the audience with an impeccable production”.
The production will also feature the National Orchestra under the direction of Mro Joseph Vella and the Teatru Astra Opera Chorus with Maria Frendo as Chorus Mistress. Stage production is in the hands of Italian Mario Corradi.
