The National Blood Transfusion Service would like to inform the general public that due to the numerous accidents which have taken place recently, there is a substantial shortage of blood.
In fact if there is not enough response from the public, all operations will have to be postponed. Therefore, all those who are healthy are kindly asked to go to the Blood Transfusion Unit as soon as possible and donate blood.
The Blood Transfusion Unit, which is situated next to St Luke’s Hospital in G’Mangia, is open daily between 8:00am and 6:00pm, inclusive of Sundays and public holidays.
In Gozo, the Gozo General Hospital is open for donations Monday to Saturday from 8.00am to 11.30am.
The blood donation area at the Gozo General Hospital will also be open on Sunday 18th May, 2008.
It is very important that one takes with him/her one’s identity card.
We thank you for your help.
