The feast season in Gozo is on again but Gozitans cannot attend unless they are prepared to use their own cars. No evening public transport service exists in Gozo for these popular events. It appears that the problem has been shelved or else thrown out altogether.
Now that fuel is becoming more expensive, the people at the Ministry for Gozo should wake up and do something to make some sort of public transport to village feasts available once again.
Bus owners should be compensated for their work, but if they still refuse to operate the service, then it should be liberalised, and permits should be issued to other individuals or companies. That is why we joined the European Union: to do away with such monopolies.
