Following the revocation of development permits for the construction of villas in Ramla Bay, Gozo, by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA), the developer filed planning appeals against said revocations.
MEPA revoked these permits following detailed reports submitted by environment planning consultant and architect Perit Lino Bianco on behalf of Carmen Bajada, a resident and local councilor in Xaghra Local Council. These reports included proof that the outline permit was issued on information that was "false, misleading or incorrect" in terms of Article 39A of the Development Planning Act.
The latest sitting of the Planning Appeals Board held yesterday 11th July 2008 MEPA questioned the validity of the appeals on failure by the appellant to settle the legal fee due to the Board.
Just before yesterday's sitting, a recourse was filed by Carmen Bajada, a registered objector against the Ramla development in terms of the Development Planning Act, to attend and have a legal standing in the proceedings filed by the appellant with the Planning Appeals Board.
