Nature Trust (Malta) calls on all political parties to strongly consider and include environmental issues in their party electoral programmes. NTM again reminds the four parties that a few weeks back it had sent a copy of a memorandum to all parties on environmental issues that need attention in our Islands.
The Maltese islands strongly need a political agenda for the environment. More attention needs to be given to land use, sustainable development, law enforcement and nature protection. After many years of lobbying the NGO notes that some things have been addressed however we are still a long way to achieving high environmental standards which our island deserves.
NTM appeals to the parties to consider environmental issues and include these in their programmes taking into account issues such as climate change, over fishing, over development and natural resources, sustainability and good planning practices in their proposals to the electorate.
NTM will be happy to meet any party who may wish further clarifications to NTM’s memorandum.
