The Gozo Cultural Council within the Ministry for Gozo would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Margaret Camilleri, the Gozitan singer hailing from the village of Sannat, artistically known as Morena, who last Saturday won first prize with her song ‘Vodka’ in the Malta Song for Europe Festival.
It is without doubt that this young singer’s confidence as well as the excellent interpretation of her song left a good impression on her immediate audience, including on all those Maltese and Gozitans who followed her performance from home. Her first comments after her victory were to thank all those Maltese and Gozitans for their support as well as God for making this dream a reality. Morena is also encouraged by her sister Giorgina Gauci, a well-known soprano.
We are sure that this is only one of the first successes, leading to many new and unique experiences, which will see Morena performing in Belgrade, Serbia, in the coming May. The Gozo Cultural Council once again congratulates this young singer and wishes her all the best for the coming weeks and months.
