A Xewkija farmer, who wishes to remain anonymous, discovered three of his purebred Tal-Fenek dogs hanging from a steel beam when he arrived at his farm yesterday morning.
Gozo SPCA and Police were immediately called and investigations are continuing.
A spokesperson for Gozo SPCA said, “Gozo SPCA absolutely condemns this barbaric act on three defenceless and blameless animals. This crime is made even more tragic since the Tal-Fenek is becoming an increasingly rare breed, which is an ancient and important part of our national heritage.”
“Gozo SPCA appeals to anyone who has any information regarding this crime, to find it in their hearts to contact the Police, so that they can then act on behalf of these poor gentle creatures.”
