With continuing interest from visitors and a high volume of sales, Matthew Green, UK based visual artist has been kept busy from across the miles, supplying art..e gallery with additional artwork to replace the volumes of work that have been snapped up by excited collectors in the past three weeks.

The gallery has commented that, “the response has been astonishing and the level of interest has kept Matthew extremely busy in supplying archival material from previous exhibitions and also some beautiful pieces from a collection that wasn’t due to launch until Summer 2008!”

A spokesperson for Mr Green stated, “it is common knowledge within the arts circle that photographic material is becoming an increasingly lucrative investment - the introductory prices set here for Malta reflect a new market and are a fraction of what one would pay in the UK where Matthew Green’s work sells for between 6 and 8 times more.”

Wonderful Life: A Photographic Exhibition by British visual artist Matthew Green launched on Saturday the 4th of August in Victoria, Gozo at art..e gallery.

Attended by well over 100 guests from Malta, across Europe and further a field, those that attended the preview were exposed to a refreshing contemporary collection of landscapes, portraiture and abstract studies of the everyday,

Amongst the guests were ex Arsenal Footballer and FA Cup Legend Alan Sunderland and guests, Joe Hamilton MBE, the celebrated artist George Scicluna, the photographer Robert Vella, magistrates, doctors, politicians, business leaders from Malta and the UK and a Dr of Philosophy from as far away as Mozambique.

The first piece, “El Peurto de Santa Maria (Christo)” sold to a private collector soon after the doors opened and this was followed by a rapid exchange of three further pieces.

Wonderful Life, open daily and free to visitors, continues at art..e gallery throughout August until 14 September and then what? Two invitations to exhibit in Valletta and again in Gozo are being explored, Libertas Wine Bar in Victoria have commissioned 7 pieces of Matthew Green’s work for their modern lounge and further discussions with distributors for a range of postcards to promote the Maltese Islands are being progressed.
