WasteServ’s message for Earth Day, a day of observance of environmental problems celebrated annually on April 22, is for the public to sustain and improve the momentum achieved over the past years in the successful management of waste in Malta
“We appeal to the public to take continue taking initiatives, both on an individual basis and collectively, to first reduce the quantity of waste, then reuse what one can, and finally recycle the rest, and to dispose of waste in the most environmentally friendly ways” said Vince Magri, Chief Executive Officer at WasteServ Malta Ltd. “Waste Separation is an important means of improving the health of our planet. And while we celebrate our gains and successes, we still face the challenge of accelerating our environmental progress for the benefit of all.”
Earth Day, intended to inspire awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s environment was originally founded by John McConnell in 1969 and celebrated in many countries each year on April 22. Since then, the rising concern about global warming and climate change has become a focal point for citizens globally. Climate change currently represents a major challenge, but is also an opportunity for the fundamental transformation of the world into a cleaner, healthier and better place to live in.
