Vodafone Malta Limited employees have donated €2,700 each to Dar tal-Providenza, Razzett tal-Hbiberija and the Association for Abandoned Animals. These contributions were collected through the Vodafone Employee Contribution for Charity Scheme, whereby employees donate an amount from their monthly salaries to charity. This amount also includes donations from the staff Christmas party.
Through this scheme, Vodafone employees may each year select the organisations to which the annual funds collected are donated. Employees select three local organisations from a list provided by Vodafone. Vodafone employees may also suggest a local organisation which is not on the list.
“Through this donation Vodafone would like to show its appreciation to the dedication shown by these associations in their mission. We believe that we should all work together to help those in need in the Maltese community. We hope that our initiative encourages more companies to follow the example,” said Brian Calleja, Facilities Manager at Vodafone.
Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija is a non-profit foundation based in Malta that offers an array of health and leisure services, free of charge, to over 1000 persons with a disability. The charity is self-governed and independent from the state or other entity. It generates some revenues through quasi-commercial activities as there is presently little or no financial support from the government. The charity depends on the generosity of the general public, corporate sponsors and its ability to organise or benefit from regular fundraising activities.
The Association for Abandoned Animals has been established since 1979 in order to care for animals that need help. Amongst other objectives, the Association for Abandoned Animals, which runs on a voluntary basis, fights against cruelty towards animals, rescues abandoned animals, promotes animal awareness, provides veterinary care and exercises pressure to introduce stricter legislations.
Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi cares for people with physical and mental impairments. Because of the wide range of activities that are organized throughout the year, no two days are ever exactly the same for its residents. Everything is planned to help advance their mental and physical abilities. Each and every resident within Dar tal-Providenza has a full schedule of planned daily activities tailored to their individual abilities and designed to help them in their journey towards social integration.
