Victoria is this year celebrating its 120th Anniversary as the Capital City of Gozo. To mark this important event, the Local Council recently brought together the two philharmonic societies of Victoria who performed two hours of music from some of the most important composers of all time.
In his speech, Mayor Robert Tabone reminded all those present that it was precisely 22 years ago when both philharmonic societies had performed together in Independence Square.
He said that one of the most important principles guiding this Local Council's agenda was to support and promote initiatives leading towards more cooperation and collaboration between the various sections that form our society. Mr. Tabone said that it is only by promoting such a policy can there be real change in the way things are done. The Mayor then listed a number of projects and initiatives which the Council will embark on during the coming year.
The focus of the event was the presentation by the Mayor of a token of merit to Mrs Vivienne Galea Pace as outgoing Mayor of Victoria and to the Presidents of both philharmonic societies.
