A twenty-nine year-old British man was involved in an incident at Gharb on Thursday night and sustained gunshot injuries. The man was found wounded in Cirkewwa and taken to Mater Dei hospital where he underwent an operation, his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Details of the incident are sketchy, but it is believed that the man was involved in an argument with a 52 year-old Maltese man at Gharb. It is not yet known how the man made his way to Cirkewwa. Two men are being held for questioning in connection with the shooting.
Magistrate Miriam Hayman has appointed a team of court experts to help in an inquiry and police investigations are continuing.
