The Commissioner for Children recently held a Mascot competition, in which children in Malta and Gozo had the opportunity to design a creative and original mascot in order to promote children's rights in a way that is child-friendly and aimed at the children themselves. The mascot will be used as an educational tool in promoting awareness of children's rights, as well as the activities of the Commissioner for Children.
Amy Mizzi, 14, from Carlo Diacono Girls Junior Lyceum is the winner. She created the character 'Guginu l-Iljuncinu.' In her description of the character, Amy wrote that "Guginu is a friendly and cool character. Since he is a lion, he is courageous and is not afraid to fight for his rights and for the rights of his friends, the children. He likes to help everyone who is smaller than him."
An exhibition of all the entries will be held at the Education Department's Foyer from Monday 16th June to Friday 20th June. Opening hours are from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
