During the past weekend, the Culture Office within the Ministry for Gozo organized the 2nd Gozo Regional Cultural Conference which is held every alternate year. The conference's 1st edition in May 2006, discussed the development of a cultural trademark for Gozo. This year's edition built on that theme and studied suggestions on how to twin culture to the experience of Gozo's touristic niches.
For the first time the Regional Conference was spread over two days allowing the widest participation possible in it's proceedings.
The Saturday 26th April session was dedicated to five workshops, each discussing suggestions related to the formulation of a policy of synergy between culture and Gozo's five main tourism experiences - the ecological, cultural, heritage, religious and well being (sports, conference & cruise-liner) experiences. Each group was chaired by a moderator and included a key-note speaker to kick-off the discussion related to it's particular theme. A rapporteur drew up an analytical report of each discussion.
The Sunday 27th April session was addressed by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, followed by the presentation of the five workshop reports by their respective rapporteurs. Kevin Sciberras, the Head of the Gozo Culture Office concluded the Conference with the presentation of a paper outlining a new vision of how effectively transform Gozo into a rendevous with Culture.

I simply wish that the outcome of these workshop is made public. At least those who work in the tourism sector and were not invited, would know what these people are up to.
Sorry but this year’s gozo festivals are nothing to write home about, not worth a second visit, prices seems to be alot higher then last year’s, so we don’t recommended to our friends back home. just an honest feedback.
tot zienz.
