The Malta Environment and Planning Authority's (MEPA) planning directorate is widely expected to recommend that the controversial proposal to build an extensive tourism complex at Ta' Cenc be rejected.
The main reason for the decision is believed to be that the project's approval would prompt other developers to file similar proposals which MEPA would then find difficult to refuse, seriously eroding the openness and rural character of the Gozitan landscape.
Refusal would therefore be on the grounds that any benefit to the development of Ta' Cenc as a heritage park would be lost by further inappropriate intensive development in the area.
