The establishment of the Gozo segment within MTA, should give Gozo a higher priority especially in the promotion of the destination in overseas markets, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said this week.
She was speaking at the Gozo Tourism Association (GTA) annual general meeting.
Minister Debono said that infrastructural work related to a number of tourism-projects funded by the European Union?s Structural Funds ? including the construction of a tourism-training facility in Qala, the setting up of a decompression chamber, the creation of artificial dive sites, the return of prehistoric artefacts, and the reconstruction of several arterial roads leading to tourism zones on Gozo ? will start in the coming months.
She appealed for the continuation of a coordinated and collective effort between the GTA, the MTA and the Ministry for Gozo for the Gozo-tourism product to be enhanced and to promote quality-tourism for the island.
The Gozo ministry, she said, is also assisting the GTA in the setting up of 10 publicity billboards in Malta that promote Gozo as a distinct tourist destination.
