A 22yr old Gozitan was yesterday given a two month jail term suspended for a year and fined Lm200 after being found guilty of being in possession of drugs with the intention of trafficking on the night of April 13th 2001.
The court noted that during a raid in Gozo, Anthony Debattista was seen throwing away a bag which the police later found contained six ecstasy tablets and a piece of cannabis resin.
When interrogated by the police, the accused said two of the tablets were for his consumption and the rest were purchased for his friends.
In handing down its judgement, the court applied the new provisions of the law declaring that trafficking in this case amounted to sharing.
