MEPA have given the go ahead for a €200,000 upgrading project for St George's Square in the centre of Victoria.
The project, which was designed by John Grima, will include the pedestrianisation of the square, which will be resurfaced with porphido slabs and a small bronze decorative fountain will also be incorporated.
Wiring on the building facades is to be be removed and new water culverts are to be installed along with a new lighting system.
It is anticipated that the project works should be completed by mid-December.

It may be wise to reconsider the erection of a fountain in St George’s Square. Perhaps a wall mounted fountain or two will be more practical because of the size of the square. During the feast, the statue of St George on the horse is already taking quite a bit of space from the square which is packed with people.
Are there any artistic impressions of the way the square would look like once finished available online?
