A Sicilian man was given a two year jail term suspended for four years after he admitted to the possession of counterfeit euros in Gozo court yesterday.
Magistrate Paul Coppini heard 30yr old Massimiliano Macarelli plead guilty to charges of using the false money in several shops in Victoria.
The magistrate heard how Mr Macarelli had been apprehended after several shop owners filed a police report.
Police Inspectors Ian Abdilla and Joseph Muscat prosecuted.
Lawyer Mario Scerri represented Mr Macarelli.
