Whilst 'The World' cruise liner was anchored outside Mgarr Harbour during its recent two day visit, Mr Ivan Mifsud, Managing Director of Malta Cruise Services, accompanied the Senior Captain, Mr Dag H. Saevik and General Manager of the cruise ship, Mr Renato W. Chizzola, on a sightseeing visit around Gozo.
As part of their itinerary, they paid a visit to the sculpture gallery of Joe Xuereb in Bahhara Street, Ghajnsielem. During this visit, Mr Mifsud presented one of Joe Xuereb's sculptures as a momento to the senior captain, which is to be displayed on board the cruise liner, amongst its varied collection of memorabilia from around the globe.
The management of 'The World' were fascinated by Mr Xuereb's sculptural works, and have proposed that during their next visit to Gozo in 2008, arrangements will be made to organise a sculpture exhibition on board the liner.
