Sannat mayor Carmel Camilleri has stepped down from his post with immediate effect, and has also resigned from the local council, citing health reasons as grounds for his resignation.
Mr Camilleri obtained 330 first count votes at the last local council election in March, which he contested on behalf of the Malta Labour Party. MLP secretary-general Jason Micallef has written to Mr Camilleri, accepting his resignation and thanking him for his work whilst he had served on the council.
