Dun Frangisk Mizzi Street, 26 January 1855 Street, Firilla Street and Barumbara Street in Ghajnsielem, as well as Francesco Masini Street in Victoria, have just been completed, while works are in progress at Qacca Street in Xaghra, Maxrabija Street in Ghasri and Santa Domenica Street in Victoria, with the latter comprising of the enlargement of the existing water culvert for storm water.
Road construction work by the Gozo Ministry is expected to start in the coming months in other residential zones in Xaghra, Victoria, Xewkija, Kercem, Marsalforn, Nadur and also in Triq il-Qighan in Ghajnsielem.
Arterial roads are also being targeted by the ministry with works presently in progress on the Victoria-San Lawrenz three-kilometre stretch, which will soon be complemented by the Xlendi, Mgarr and the Ramla road projects.
The government voted in an additional Lm500,000 for the ministry?s road projects in last year?s budget so that the ministry could be in a position to implement its roads programme for the current period, a Department of Information statement said.
Minister Debono said that this current year will be one of the most interesting years for Gozo as many infrastructural projects, including roads, will be constructed through the coming months, now that all the preparatory work is being concluded.
