Citadel.jpgFollowing the success of the first In Guardia Re-enactment held at the Gozo Citadel last month, the Malta Tourism Authority will once again be holding the second in the series of re-enactments on Saturday, August the 18th. The Re-enactment will take place at the Citadel in Victoria, from 11am to noon.

The Re-enactors will be demonstrating their military prowess by holding military drills, as well as manning all the watch-out posts of the ramparts that defend the Citadel.

During the time when the Order of St. John was in Malta this was a duty to be taken seriously and constantly. The population of Gozo was considered to be very vulnerable from the attacks of corsairs and therefore the Order of the Knights of St. John had to ensure that the fortified part of the town of Rabat, Gozo was properly defended.

The MTA is holding this re-enactment once a month during the summer period, in collaboration with the Gozo Tourism Association and the Ministry for Gozo in order to animate one of Gozo’s most historic locations for the enjoyment of both Maltese and tourists alike.
