The Raymond Mercieca sports complex was inaugurated in Kercem on Sunday by Ministers Dolores Cristina and Giovanna Debono. The complex is equipped with a football ground, a football club, futsal pitch, tennis court amongst others. On the occasion of the inauguration of the complex, Minister Cristina said that the joint project between the Kercem local council and the Ministry for Gozo is another example of the holistic vision of the government, whereby it seeks to create a nice environment for all members of the family and for all the generations. Minister Cristina went on to say that government is investing in works of landscaping in residential areas around Malta and Gozo which would enhance the lives of families living around them. Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono spoke about the importance of local councils in the setting up of new initiatives targeted at residents, "new facilities help to improve the quality of life in a village," she said. The two Ministers concluded by thanking the Kercem local council and expressing their desire for the continued collaboration between government and local administrations.
