Shortly before the general election, the Ramblers Association of Malta unanimously approved a motion stating that whoever is elected to power will be receiving strong representations from them for the purpose of securing serious sensitive and sustainable treatment of the zones on which the Structure Plan does not allow development.
"Soon, serious and grave decisions followed up by decisive actions will have to be taken regarding the environment and the open countryside which will have direct consequence on rambling activities," the association said.
"Every loss signifies the destruction of more natural and cultural endowment bestowed on this fair land by God and our forefathers, endowment that is the vital source for a healthy lifestyle for Maltese Society. RAM is determined to protect these zones at all costs in accordance with its declared mission statement," the association concluded.
