The President of Malta, Dr Edward Fenech Adami, has undergone a cardiac intervention at Mater Dei Hospital and is now recovering, according to an official statement from the Department of Information.
All the Presidents official appointments and events over the coming week have either been cancelled or postponed.
The President has been advised by his medical staff to rest, the statement said.
