The new bells for the Rotunda church in Xewkija arrived on board a Gozo Channel vessel at Mgarr Harbour yesterday. The new bells were cast in Loughborough, England by John Taylor Bell Founders Ltd and with two existing bells will make a complete set.
A carcade from Mgarr to Xewkija returned to the village with the bells. On their arrival at Xewkija, the village band Prekursur accompanied the bells on their way to the main village square in front of the Rotunda church.
On Saturday, Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, will preside over the ceremony of the blessing of the new bells, which will be held in the main square of Xewkija. The Prekursur band and the Vox Clamantis choir will perform during the ceremony.
