After considerable controversy, Mgr Guzepp Attard is to be installed as the new Archpriest of the Cathedral Parish in Victoria on Sunday. The controversy surrounding the manner of his appointment finally appears to be over, with some of the former protestors set to take part in this ceremony.
The ceremony will commence at 7.45am with a procession in Nadur. At 8.45am the Leone Band will march from the parish centre to greet the new Archpriest in Savina Square. Following prayers at Savina church the Archpriest will be accompanied by the band to the Cathedral.
Bishop Mario Grech will greet Mgr Attard, and a welcoming speech, on behalf of the parish, will be given by Dr Michael Carauna, President of the Leone society. Bishop Grech will then lead Mass in the Cathedral.
