John Michael Mizzi from Sannat will be representing Alternattiva Demokratika in next month?s local council elections, chairperson Harry Vassallo said.
"We are proud to have John Michael Mizzi as our candidate on this locality. He is a young, enterprising professional willing to put his experience of achieving success for the benefit of his community. His bold public commitment to Sannat in recent months carries the hallmark of Green public service: commitment to the community free of all behind the scenes string-pulling, putting people first and foremost," Dr Vassallo said at a press conference.
Victor Galea AD?s Gozo regional committee spokesperson said: "John Michael Mizzi is a Sannat-raised entrepreneur who specialises in information technology. John set up his own company in Australia called MizziSoft to further his research and subsequently develop and market more advanced technologies in this area."
"His company is a success story and it provides software packages for hospitals, airlines and other major companies."
Mr Mizzi said: "Sannat has the potential to attract different niches of tourism such as agro-tourism and eco-tourism. Once elected, with the help of AD and through the benefit of the vast international contacts of expertise it enjoys, I shall explore all available possibilities in these areas and endorse projects that could generate sustainable employment in Sannat for the locals. Such projects will be undertaken with the help of local environmental non-governmental organisations."
