The Gozo Tourism Association has welcomed the introduction of the new Airport - Cirkewwa shuttle service, saying that the service is an added facility directed towards the enhancement of accessibility to and from Gozo of both tourists and locals alike.
The GTA said it has been promoting the idea of a link between the airport and Cirkewwa since 2001, when it listed the idea as one of the priorities under tourism in the Special Needs Assessment Study for Gozo commissioned by the European Commission during the EU pre-accession period.
Apart from being an alternative means of commuting between Malta International Airport and Cirkewwa, the assoociation said it believes that the bus service will present Gozo as a more competitive destination. Apart from the fare factor, the fact that this is a non-stop bus journey, will entice not only the individual foreign traveller but also even Gozitans travelling abroad.
