Nationalist Party General Secretary, Joe Saliba has tried to calm PN supporters who have already started celebrating an election victory.
Mr Saliba said that that the outcome would clearly be a photo finish and it was therefore necessary to wait until all the first count votes had been counted, which would take approximately three more hours.
He said six samples had been studied so far but there was still no clear projection that could be made.
Mr Saliba added that the possibility of a third party having a candidate elected had also been ruled out.
