A Nadur man has been charged with attempting to carry out an armed robbery on two women at a supermarket in Sannat on Tuesday morning.
Piju Grech, aged 34, from Nadur, was accused of holding the two women against their will and of injuring them slightly. He was further accused of carrying a pointed instrument without the appropriate licence. Mr Grech was also charged with breaking the public order and of falsely accusing a police sergeant and two constables of corruption.
Mr Grech appeared in court before Duty Magistrate Dr Anthony Ellul and plead not guilty to the charges brought against him.
Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted, Lawyers Joseph Grech and Chris Said appeared on behalf of the accused.
