The Hon. Anton Tabone, Speaker of the House of Representatives, met with Mr Giuseppe Catizone, Mayor of Nichelino and his accompanying delegation yesterday. Nichelino is a town in northern Italy, close to Turin. The Italian delegation is in Gozo to establish a twinning project with the Local Council of Victoria. Mr Tabone augured that the initiative taken by the Local Council of Victoria and that of Nichelino should produce tangible results in as many sectors as possible, particularly that in establishing a closer relationship between the people of both localities. Mr Tabone and Mr Catizone also exchanged information on how things are run at the local level in Malta and Nichelino. Mr Tabone gave an overview on how the Maltese Parliament functions and the current facilities available at the House, highlighting the work of the Standing Committees. Mr Robert Tabone, Mayor of Victoria, accompanied by Councillors Joseph Debrincat and Marcell Tabone also attended the meeting.
