Local music enthusiasts will have more to listen to and dance to next weekend as Morena and the Spectrum Band will be playing their latest gig during the sixth edition of the Gozo Music Festival, taking place in Gozo on Saturday 18th of August. Gozo Music Festival is an established annual event, managing to attract crowds of all ages due to the different music played throughout the night in the separate arenas. his sixth edition, held at the Maxtura Fields on the way to Marsalforn, will host three different arenas: House, Summer Anthems & Disco Classics, and Live Rock. The festival is an ideal platform for local artistes, bands and DJs, as well as the promoter of several international artistes of repute who are brought exclusively to Malta by the organisers Dynamic Promotions in collaboration with Fresh Music Agency. This year, Prezioso & Marvin, Shena and Erick E will give GMF6 an international flavour. Local attraction Morena, together with the Spectrum Band will be captivating the public with their gig starting at 9.45pm. The Spectrum Band was established in Gozo in the late 70s, taking the then tranquil island by storm. Having participated in several local and foreign festivals, including a band festival in San Remo (Italy) in 1996, the band has successfully managed to produce several original hits including their timeless "Hamiema Bajda" (1989). Since then, inevitable transformations took place including various changes in band members, yet the Spectrum Band music remains distinctive. Locally acclaimed vocalist Morena, as well as the young Christine have since joined the band, giving the previously all-male musicians - Patrick on lead guitar, Joe on bass, Ino on drums and Ismael on keyboards, a more pleasant air. Morena and the Spectrum Band, will be joined by guest guitarist Edmond, turning their participation in the sixth edition of the Gozo Music Festival into an even bigger affair. Morena and Spectrum Band have recently participated in most of this year's main music events on Gozo including Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana held in Victoria in May and the EU 50th Anniversary celebrations held in Nadur in March. Their forthcoming events include their participation in this year's edition of the Delicata Wine Festival in Nadur on 2 September and the forthcoming edition of Notte Bianca to be held in Malta on October the 6th. www.spectrum-gozo.com
