There was an increase in traffic between Malta and Gozo in the second quarter of this year, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.
A total of 947,237 passengers used the Malta-Gozo ferries, an increase of 47,314 or 5.3 per cent over the same quarter last year. The total number of passenger vehicles carried by the ferries shot up by 15,529 to 236,439, a climb of seven per cent.
In all, 4,650 trips were made, a rise of 178 or four per cent. The MV Malita carried 423,996 passengers or 44.8 per cent of the total. The other two Gozo Channel ferries, Ta’ Pinu and Gaudos, carried 292,080 and 231,197 passengers respectively.
