The Malta Environment & Planning Authority has published a draft guidance document on Environmental Impact Assessment. The document is primarily intended for developers, architects and in particular EIA practitioners. Following a short introduction on EIA, the document discusses relevant European Community and National legislation, and the process used by MEPA to require an EIA. The draft document is available for download here.
The document provides advice on good practice on preparing a Project Description Statement, screening, scoping and the Environmental Statement. The document discusses the environmental information that MEPA requests as part of the EIA, consultation during EIA and the public hearing, as well as the follow-up to EIA.
MEPA would appreciate comments on this draft guidance document. Such comments and suggestions should be addressed to:
The Malta Environment & Planning Authority EIA Guidance Assistant Director, Environment Protection Directorate St. Francis Ravelin, Floriana CMR 01, or through email on eiamalta@mepa.org...
Closing date for submissions is the 15th of January 2008.
