The Malta Environment & Planning Authority decided a total of 744 applications in September and received 460 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,520. During September the Authority processed 56 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.
In September 2007, 66 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 45 in Malta and 21 in Gozo. During the same month, 56 enforcement cases were closed, 48 in Malta and 8 in Gozo. 40 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 13 cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with enforcement notice. During the same month 3 cases were withdrawn by MEPA.
In September, MEPA carried out just one direct action operation, on the 27th of September at Iklin, which was the sealing off of airconditioners and Extraction Fans placed on a façade without a permit.
