The number of marital separation cases that went to mediation last year was 998, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said in reply to a parliamentary question put by Joseph Cassar (PN).
In Gozo, 47 cases went to mediation, 13 of which presented a draft contract that was approved, whilst nine cases proceeded to the First Hall.
In Malta, 329 of those cases which presented a draft contract that was approved, and 120 proceeded to the First Hall.
Dr Borg remarked that this showed that the number of separation cases was dropping every year, and that the mediation process was working well.
