The Malta Song for Europe 2006 final was concluded at the Mediterranean Conference Centre last night. The winner, Fabrizio Faniello, will represent Malta at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Greece in May.
The winning song, which will eventually represent Malta in Greece during the Eurovision 2006 on the 20th of May, was selected by the public, through televoting.
There was no technical or professional judging, so the winning song is the publics choice through televoting. A 10 minute voting session started immediately after all the 18 songs were performed.
Fabrizio?s song, written by Aldo Spiteri and composed by Fabrizio himself received 7,729 votes. It is the second time that Fabrizio will represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2001, he placed 9th when he represented Malta with the song ?Another Summer Night?.
Olivia Lewis placed second with the song ?Spare a Moment? which received 7,623 votes. Olivia was followed by Trilogy whose song ?This Heart of Mine? received 4,954 points.
