Maltapost issues new stamps for special occasions

Occasions-Stamps2.jpgTomorrow, the 28th of September, the Philatelic Bureau of Maltapost will be issuing a set of six stamps entitled Occasions. These stamps are aimed primarily at making certain occasions a bit more special, by being more specific in their message. Indeed, use of these special stamps will help to convey a sender’s message even before an envelope is slit open.

Franking a postal item with an occasion stamp is an ideal way to mark and celebrate special occasions such as birthdays or weddings, the birth of a baby, or sending greetings and best wishes to friends and loved ones.

In the year 2000 Maltapost started off its stamp programme for that year by launching a set of five Greetings stamps with a se-tenant message in the margin. The stamps have proved very popular in adding a personal touch to friends having a special occasion.

Occasions-Stamps.JPGSuch stamps are very often accompanied by a se-tenant personalised stamp, as senders who cannot be there in person, may wish to personalize their wishes by attaching their images on a stamp. Sending such a smile through the mail would add a sparkle to the special occasion being celebrated.

All the six stamps issued in this set are denominated with 8c/ Euro 0.19. Unlike other stamp issues, these Occasions stamps will have an extended sales period.

The six stamps in the set have been designed by Harry Borg, and have been offset printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper by Printex Ltd of Qormi. The stamps are 35mm X 35mm in size, with a perforation of 14.28 x 14.28 (Comb). These stamps are available in sheets of ten.

This set will be available in First Day Cover, mint and cancelled formats, and as a Souvenir Folder and Presentation Pack.

Additional details regarding this and forthcoming issues can be obtained from the Philatelic Bureau of Maltapost plc, tel. 25961747, by emailing philately@maltapost.com..., by post to: 305 Triq Hal Qormi, Marsa, MTP 1001, or from the Maltapost website at www.maltapost.com...
