The Labour Party is to draw up a Gozo development plan, Opposition Leader Alfred Sant told party delegates in Gozo on Saturday.
Dr Sant said that Gozo needed a plan that focused on job creating activities because unemployment was a more serious problem in Gozo than in Malta.
He said Gozo needed to be considered a region with its own particular needs and, therefore, it required appropriate policies.
Dr Sant also said that the MLP’s development plan would include the social aspect, notably health, education and the environment.
Dr Sant went on to say that Labour believed that the manufacturing industry could make a return to Gozo and that tourism could be given a fresh boost. The self-employed would also need to be given new forms of assistance, he said.
