Arka-Donation-2008.jpgMrs Tina Rapinet, committee member of the Malta Charities Association of London, visited the Arka Foundation Respite Center in Ghajnsielem, Gozo on Tuesday, where she presented a donation of €13,000 to Mons.Emmanuel Curmi in the presence of Gozitan sculptor Joe Xuereb.

Mons. Curmi together with Mr Joe Cremona, administrator of the Respite Center, thanked the Malta Charities for their generous help and discussed with Mrs Rapinet about their plans of how Arka Foundation intends to utilize the said funds. They declared that some of the funds would go towards the completion of their ICT project. It was also pointed out that at present, Arka Respite Center is offering care and housing for free to some disabled persons that due to their difficult social background the said persons could not afford to pay for the services received at the Center.

Later, Mrs Rapinet was also taken round the newly laid up gardens, a latest addition to the center which is at present in full bloom and is nicely furnished with benches, gazebo, lights and purposely raised flower-beds for wheel-chair bound persons to work on.

Since sculptor Joe Xuereb donates one of his works every year to the Malta Charities to be auctioned during their annual Gala Dinner, where his last contribution raised the fabulous price of GBP£3500 (€4800) this year he has recommended Arka Foundation to be one of the main beneficiaries of the London based, Malta Charities.

It is to be pointed out that 2008 marks the 20th year of the foundation of the London based Malta Charities that over the past years have contributed immensely to various Maltese charitable institutions.
