The Gozo Cultural Council held the 'Festa Nicec' (Feast of Niches) last weekend. This comprised of a series of events highlighting the 'little street chapels' and bringing out their cultural, folkloristic and artistic aspects so that they may be better appreciated by contemporary society.

Of particular interest to the people of Ghajnsielem that attended, was the last day of activities, when a traditional 'Festa tan-Nicca' (as celebrated up to 30 years ago) was held next to the niche of Our Lady of Loreto in Ghajn Qatet Street, Victoria. Several traditional folk dances, ground and aerial fireworks and local traditions relating to the feast of Saint Martin were held during this re-enactment.
