In February 2008 compared with January 2008, seasonally adjusted industrial production grew by 0.3% in the euro area (EA15) and by 0.5% in the EU272. In January production rose by 0.6% and 0.7% respectively.
In February 2008 compared with February 2007, industrial production rose by 3.1% in the euro area and by 3.3% in the EU27. These estimates are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities.
Monthly comparison - In February 2008 compared with January 2008, production of energy increased by 1.0% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU27. Capital goods grew by 0.9% and 1.0% respectively. Intermediate goods rose by 0.5% in both zones.
Durable consumer goods fell by 0.4% in the euro area and remained stable in the EU27.
Non-durable consumer goods decreased by 0.4% and 0.3% respectively. In February 2008 and among Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in sixteen, remained stable in the Netherlands and fell in three. The highest increases were registered in Slovenia (+4.5%), Lithuania (+3.6%) and Poland (+2.2%), while the largest decrease was recorded in Greece (-4.7%).
Annual comparison - In February 2008 compared with February 2007, production of capital goods increased by 7.1% in both the euro area and the EU27. Production of energy grew by 4.0% and 2.9% respectively. Intermediate goods rose by 2.1% in the euro area and by 2.4% in the EU27. Non-durable consumer goods gained 0.8% and 0.7% respectively. Durable consumer goods fell by 0.7% in the euro area, but grew by 2.1% in the EU27.
In February 2008 and among Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in eighteen and fell only in Greece (-4.2%) and Italy (-0.8%). The highest increases were registered in Poland (+12.3%), Slovakia (+11.5%) and Lithuania (+11.1%).
