Reports published over the past few months show that the number of people travelling to and from Gozo has increased this year. The first two weeks of this month were no exception, as Gozo Channel registered a 7.3 percent increase in the number of passengers over the same period last year.
The company’s latest statistics also showed that there was a nine per cent increase in the number of vehicles that crossed over between the 1st and 16th of September. Gozo Channel ferries carried a total of 226,140 passengers and 57,768 vehicles during this period.
The company is also anticipating a large influx of Maltese travelling to Gozo during the course of the current long weekend.
During the first eight months of this year, there was an average increase of 9.1 per cent in the number of passengers using the Gozo Channel Ferries, with the highest increases having been registered in January which rose by 17.7 percent, February which rose by 14.6 percent and March which rose by 13.6 percent.
An average increase of 10.1 per cent was registered in the number of vehicles that crossed over between the two islands during this period.
